April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month Image

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The month is set aside to raise awareness about sexual assault, harassment, abuse, and stalking. The Southwest Crisis Center participates in this event and has developed an awareness campaign to educate community members and provide resources to those in need and prevent sexual violence and exploitation. Our 2020 theme is Start By Believing.

While we’re all at home trying to stay healthy, sexual assault and harassment are still happening – and in fact, may increase during this COVID-19 crisis as more victims are trapped at home with their abusers.

April 1, 2020, we kick off a month-long campaign with a different theme each week. We are asking all of you to help us raise awareness about the issue, prevent sexual assault, and share available resources for survivors.

The Southwest Crisis Centers is here to support those who experience sexual or domestic violence or exploitation.

You can make a difference: Start by Believing.

Please follow on Facebook and Instagram and join us each week by participating in the theme and sharing our messages.  Check out our weekly themes and poster here and be sure to join us!

You can also help us during this critical time by making a gift today to show you believe and support the healing process for survivors.

Thank you for supporting our community and believing survivors!
